About The Position

This role involves performing mechanical and electrical inspections, maintaining accurate vehicle records, and conducting preventive maintenance on trucks. The mechanic will diagnose and repair various equipment components, troubleshoot brake systems, and service equipment by changing oils and greasing parts. The position requires the ability to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure, with necessary welding skills for equipment repair. The mechanic will also operate shop tools and maintain a clean work environment, adhering to safety policies.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 0-3 years of related experience and/or training at a technical school.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Welding experience required.
  • Must possess a wide variety of tools.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to climb, bend, stoop, and walk.
  • Previous truck mechanic experience required.
  • Class A or B CDL required or the ability to obtain.

Nice To Haves

  • Spanish speaking or bilingual is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct mechanical and light electrical inspections.
  • Record services and repairs for accurate vehicle records.
  • Complete preventive maintenance such as brakes, fluids, and lighting systems.
  • Diagnose and repair/replace failed or malfunctioning parts/components on equipment, including transmissions, engines, drain lines, rear axles, gearboxes, springs, drive lines, operators' compartments, fixed ladders and walkways, and other mechanical parts.
  • Troubleshoot and repair light mechanical problems relating to the brake system of all equipment.
  • Service equipment, including greasing trucks and related equipment, and changing oils/fluids.
  • Understand welding of components for equipment repair.
  • Operate cutting torch and gas welding equipment, and various shop tools like power drills, power saws, air tools, chipping guns, and impact guns.
  • Wear appropriate PPE for tasks being performed.
  • Maintain a clean work atmosphere inside and outside the shop.
  • Communicate, improve, and adhere to safety policies in all work environments and areas.
