About The Position

Reading Corps is hiring Reading Tutors to help students improve their reading skills at a local school. Tutors are trained to deliver proven reading activities and receive ongoing coaching. On school days, tutors provide 20-minute reading practice sessions to pairs of students, following a schedule until all assigned students have been served. Tutors encourage students as they build reading skills and confidence. The program is administered by Ampact, a nonprofit organization, and is powered by AmeriCorps members. Positions are for the 2026–27 school year, running August 2026 through June 2027. The full-time schedule is 35 hours per week, with fewer hours during weeks with holidays or school release days. Part-time options of 25 and 15 hours per week are also available. Hours are during the school day, Monday through Friday, with no weekends. AmeriCorps members have a total service-hour commitment for the program year; most hours are completed through regular site-based service, with occasional approved service or training outside the school day as needed.
