About The Position

This is a 1.0 FTE position at Kenmore Middle School. The Reading Specialist will implement instructional programs tailored to student needs, interests, and abilities, utilizing appropriate materials. They will maintain a safe and orderly learning environment, communicate effectively with parents/guardians, and keep accurate student records. The role involves collaboration with administrators, teachers, instructional assistants, parents, and community members, as well as monitoring and assessing student achievement. Continuous professional learning and meeting attendance are also required.

Requirements

• Teaching experience in the above mentioned area
• Knowledge of best instructional practices
• Ability to integrate technology
• Experience in educational and instructional leadership
• Must have or be eligible for Virginia licensure.
• Must have or be eligible for reading endorsement (masters in reading or masters in another teaching area plus reading endorsement).

Nice To Haves

• Dual endorsement in English as a Second Language and/or Special Education, or in any other content area, is preferred but not required.
