About The Position

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team at Shawswick Elementary School as a part-time reading interventionist. The ideal candidate will work closely with students who require additional support in reading, helping them develop essential literacy skills and fostering a love for reading. This role is crucial in ensuring that all students achieve academic success and meet grade-level reading standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Literacy, or a related field.
• Experience working with elementary-aged students, preferably in a reading intervention or tutoring role.
• Strong understanding of reading development and effective instructional strategies for struggling readers.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, staff, and families.
• Proficiency in using assessment tools to evaluate student progress.
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students.

Nice To Haves

• Valid state teaching license or certification in reading instruction is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Provide targeted reading intervention to students in small groups or one-on-one settings.
• Assess students’ reading abilities and identify areas for improvement.
• Develop and implement individualized intervention plans tailored to each student’s needs.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate reading strategies into the general curriculum.
• Monitor and document student progress, adjusting intervention strategies as necessary.
• Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and strategies for support at home.
• Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in reading instruction.
• Foster a positive and encouraging learning environment that promotes student engagement and motivation.
