The Reading Interventionist uses individualized instructional strategies to provide students the opportunity to make significant gains in reading; and develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society. The Reading/Dyslexia Interventionist teaches students identified with dyslexia and other reading challenges using instructional strategies and an individualized, intensive, multi-sensory, phonetic approach. They monitor and collect data on student progress/achievement, maintain confidential files, records, and documents, and establish and maintain open communication with parents, students, colleagues, and community members. This role also involves attending Section 504 meetings as the dyslexia representative, supporting and/or conducting assessments for dyslexia under Section 504, and planning and delivering small group or 1:1 instruction to students identified as at-risk in order to reach learning goals. The interventionist provides students with appropriate intervention instruction, learning activities, and experiences in the areas of reading to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth, enabling students to develop competencies to close educational gaps.
