About The Position

The Richmond Behavioral Health Authority is seeking a PRN Mobile Crisis Clinician l/ll to perform skilled human support work performing clinical and crisis response services as part of the REACH Clinical team. This role involves conducting emergency outreach and crisis responses, both in-person and through telehealth, to clients with serious and persistent mental illnesses and co-occurring disorders to assist them in maintaining safety and overall stability in the community. The position requires providing supportive assistance and advocacy in maintaining clients' financial, housing, medical, psychiatric, and social needs. The Clinician will collaborate closely with a Mobile Crisis Professional / QMHP level position, steering the clinical direction of services and leading the clinical assessment and level of care determination process. Work is performed under the general direction of the Clinical Supervisor I or II.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree with coursework in counseling, social work, psychology or related field.
  • Moderate experience working with intellectual disabilities, developmental disabilities and mental health.
  • Clear and strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong case conceptualization skills.
  • Demonstrates strong diagnostic skills and crisis treatment planning skills.
  • Displays critical thinking skills in crisis to reduce risk for individuals in crisis as well as for community.
  • Valid driver's license in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
  • Must be LMHP / LMHP-E.

Responsibilities

  • Provides Crisis Response for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and intense behavior needs.
  • Responds in person and / or remotely to hospitals, family homes, group homes, crisis assessment centers, CSBs and other community locations.
  • Triages phone calls that come in on the 24/7 Crisis Response Hotline.
  • Provides clinical case updates to the rest of the REACH Team.
  • Maintains communication and relationships with community partners.
  • Participates in required meetings with team members, supervisors, and clinical staff.
  • Coordinates individual’s care with identified CSB/BHA Case Manager/Support Coordinator and applicable community providers, including Emergency Services, case management, group homes, guardian / AR, medical personnel and other supports.
  • Conducts and prepares comprehensive crisis and diagnostic assessments; prepares comprehensive/consultative service evaluations; develops and prepares crisis response plans; completes crisis safety plans and triage forms.
  • Collects required data and produces documentation on consumer access and utilization of REACH services.
  • Completes REACH-sponsored/required trainings on an ongoing basis.
  • Utilizes electronic health record for documentation purposes.
  • Completes all required documentation collaboratively with individuals / systems of care.
  • Attends and/or makes presentations at clinical educational teams and multi-disciplinary team meetings.
  • Provides crisis response and support to the REACH residential sites as requested.
