About The Position

This role is responsible for coordinating and guiding hourly team members in the raw materials department. The Raw Materials Lead acts as a point of contact, provides guidance on tasks, ensures adherence to standard operating procedures and 6S compliance, and delivers regular tier meetings/huddles. A key aspect of this role is ensuring safety compliance by reinforcing safety rules, PPE adherence, and procedures. The lead facilitates workflow by monitoring progress, addressing minor issues, ensuring material availability, and collaborating with other functional areas. They also maintain quality standards by monitoring product quality and ensuring team members follow quality control procedures, and that all data entry and documentation is accurate. This position serves as a communication link between hourly employees and salaried supervisors, relaying information, providing production status updates, and escalating significant problems. Additionally, the lead works with the training team to deliver training, ensures skill enhancement of employees, and acts as a backup to salaried supervisors or other employees during absences. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Must be Material Handler or above
  • Familiarity with internal inventory and tracking systems
  • Certified on forklifts (up to G50)
  • Must be able to work within large scales of data (Microsoft Office Suite)

  • Must be able to position oneself to work in confined spaces
  • Must be able to move safely while walking over uneven terrain

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and guide hourly raw material employees on assigned tasks.
  • Ensure employees understand instructions and follow standard operating procedures, including 6S compliance.
  • Deliver tier meetings/huddles on a regular basis.
  • Reinforce safety rules, PPE adherence, and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Facilitate smooth production flow by monitoring progress and addressing minor issues.
  • Ensure materials and resources are available (including wood and poly trailers).
  • Ensure an effective shift handoff and staffing coordination.
  • Collaborate with other functional areas to ensure raw material needs are met.
  • Monitor product quality and ensure team members adhere to quality control procedures.
  • Ensure all data entry and documentation is accurate.
  • Serve as a communication link between hourly team and salaried supervisors, relaying information and providing updates.
  • Escalate significant problems or concerns.
  • Work with the training team to deliver training to new and existing employees.
  • Ensure effective skill enhancement of area employees.
  • Provide immediate oversight or complete tasks in the absence of a salaried supervisor or other employees.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
