About The Position

Talent Solutions is partnering with Wagonhammer Ranch, a well-established Nebraska Sandhills family ranch near Bartlett, to hire a Ranch Hand for its cow/calf and seedstock operation. The ranch has a 115-year history and values family, cattle, stewardship of the land, and ranching as a way of life. The role covers all aspects of cow/calf production and may suit someone seeking a long-term home with an operation that invests in its people. The Ranch Hand assists with cattle production and care, including calving, winter feeding, herd health, breeding, and cattle handling. The position also involves operating and maintaining ranch equipment, haying, fence and water maintenance, general ranch upkeep, and land-management work such as controlling leafy spurge and cedar trees.

Requirements

Valid driver’s license.
Prior ranch or cattle experience.
Reliable and hardworking.
Able to work in all weather conditions.
Takes pride in good stockmanship and caring for the land.

Nice To Haves

Experience with cattle nutrition.
Experience with range management.
Experience operating and maintaining ranch machinery.
A.I. experience.
Comfort working cattle horseback.

Responsibilities

Assist with all aspects of cow/calf and seedstock production on a 2,300 operation.
Calve cows and heifers, including tagging calves and keeping accurate records.
Feed cattle through the winter.
Check, move, and sort cattle on horseback or by side-by-side as needed.
Help with branding, weaning, sorting, and shipping.
Monitor herd health and doctor sick cattle as needed.
Assist with breeding season, including A.I. work.
Operate and maintain ranch equipment and machinery.
Help with haying as needed.
Build and repair fence, check water, and handle general ranch maintenance.
Assist with spraying leafy spurge and controlling cedar trees through mechanical removal and prescribed burns.
Perform other ranch-related duties as assigned.
