Universal Rail Solutions Inc. is currently seeking Labourers (Trackperson) to support railway maintenance and construction activities across Ontario. The Opportunity As a Labourer (Trackperson), you will work as part of a railway construction and maintenance crew performing essential field activities that help maintain the safety and reliability of Canada's rail infrastructure. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy physically active outdoor work, thrive in a team environment, and are committed to working safely every day.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Driver's Licence and clean driver's abstract
  • Basic understanding of survey grades and construction methods
  • Ability to read instructions, technical specifications, and grade plans
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work, including: Moderate to heavy lifting, Standing for extended periods, Bending and shovelling, Working outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • General understanding of, or ability to learn, the operation of railway tools and equipment such as: Rail saws, Drills, Grinders, Spike pullers, Air compressors, Bolters, Backpack blowers
  • Ability to obtain railway certifications, including: Canadian Rail Operating Rules (CROR), Track Inspection Guidelines (TIG), Other applicable railway qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Manually grade ballast and track surfaces
  • Pull railway spikes and install spikes into rail ties
  • Shovel rock and dirt for grading, surfacing, and ballast clearing activities
  • Load and unload heavy materials from vehicles and equipment
  • Operate small tools and equipment as required
  • Support railway construction, rehabilitation, and maintenance activities
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
