About The Position

Pacific Trailer Repair Services is hiring immediately for a Union Mechanic to join their team at a Container Storage Facility in Oakland, CA in a recession-proof industry. Experience is required and the starting rate of pay is commensurate with experience. You can expect to make $40,000+ in your 1st year. The successful candidate for this position will be responsible for inspecting and analyzing malfunctions, completing repairs and efficiently rebuilding chassis & trailer and container parts. The shift is 8 am-5 pm Monday through Friday, with overtime sometimes available.

Requirements

Valid Drivers License, and dependable transportation
Ability to pass all pre-employment screening requirements (background and drug test)
Strong problem-solving skills.
DOT certified in FHWA Inspections & Air Brakes.

Nice To Haves

Welding experience is a plus.
Must have a Federal Highway inspection Certificate
Prior experience working on cars, changing tires or welding would be great but is not necessary.

Responsibilities

Responsible for the daily inspection of all trailers, containers, and chassis to ensure equipment is meeting safety standards under Federal Highway Administration standards.
Able to dismantle, repair and reassemble landing gears, wheel axles, and brakes, this may include welding of broken parts.
Ensures the electrical system is running efficiently.
Accurately and legibly complete work orders.
Completes all work orders in a timely and consistent manner.
Technicians are required to wear Personal Protection Equipment (PPE), such as hearing protection, safety toe boots, safety glasses, protective hard hat, and welding leathers & goggles, when applicable.
Maintains a clean and safe work environment.
All other duties as assigned.
