About The Position

Pacific Rail Services is looking for an Intermodal Rail Terminal Supervisor to join their team at the Norfolk Southern Morrisville Railyard. The Intermodal Yard Supervisor is responsible for coordinating the terminal’s operations to ensure that the retention of service levels satisfies the customer’s requirements. This person will take direction from policies and procedures established by the Company, Vice Presidents, Assistant Vice Presidents, Directors, Assistant Terminal Managers, and Terminal Managers.

Requirements

  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Advanced knowledge of the railroad industry from vocational education, apprenticeship, on-the-job training, and/or similar supervisory work experience.
  • Ability to assist in conflict resolution and mediation between co-workers.
  • Proven managerial skills including strong leadership and motivation, employee training experience, and a good understanding of a Collective Bargaining Agreement, government regulations, and industry standards.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to coordinate with a variety of individuals.
  • Must currently live within a 1-hour commute of the business location.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the scheduling and coordinating of the intermodal activities of the terminal, including the ramping and de-ramping of trailers and containers based on business-level needs.
  • Assures that personnel are meeting productivity goals and maintaining acceptable service levels according to company standards.
  • Prioritizes outbound trailer loads to meet train schedules and empty return programs.
  • Has direct contact with customers for spotting and pulling intermodal trains.
  • Designates equipment availability to meet customer requirements and ensures the security of all operations within the intermodal yard.
  • Assists in upholding the company’s safety policies and maintaining a high standard for all employees.
  • Monitors intermodal freight handling to be cost-effective while meeting customer service standards.
  • Coordinates inbound and outbound trains to ensure accuracy and securement of all units.
  • Determines manpower levels, personnel schedules, and assigned duties.
  • Directs contact with customers ensuring all requirements are met and security is maintained within the intermodal yard.
  • Maintains daily contact with Assistant Terminal Managers and Terminal Manager for informational purposes and recommendations to improve productivity and cost controls.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
