About The Position

Rail Terminal Services is hiring immediately for a Rail Terminal Diesel Truck Mechanic to join their team at the Salt Lake City, UT Rail Terminal. This is a full-time position in a recession-proof industry. The role involves diagnosing and repairing a fleet of hostler trucks, forklifts, and company vehicles, performing routine maintenance, and assisting managers as needed. Candidates should be preventative maintenance minded and possess their own tools, for which a yearly allowance is provided. The position requires a valid driver's license and the ability to pass a background check, physical strength test, and drug screening. Successful candidates will be required to join the local union.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in the mechanical field.
• Preventative maintenance minded.
• Must have own tools.
• Experience and knowledge working with Air, Electrical, Hydraulic, and Diesel systems and components.
• Must have a valid driver's license.
• Must be at least 18 with verifiable mechanical experience.
• Candidates must undergo a background check.
• Must be able to pass a physical strength test.
• Drug screening.
• Required to join local union.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of railroads.
• Knowledge of Hostler trucks.
• Knowledge of overhead cranes (Mi-Jack or Kalmar).
• Knowledge of electrical and hydraulic equipment.
• Certified in diesel engine repair.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair hostler fleet, forklifts, and company vehicles.
• Maintain Hostler Fleet.
• Welding, fabricating.
• Working on Electrical components.
• Routine maintenance.
• Assist in other areas as needed by managers.
