Rail Infrastructure Technician

GeoStabilization InternationalLexington, KY

About The Position

GeoStabilization International (GSI), Access Limited, and RoadGuard together form a leading infrastructure solutions platform dedicated to protecting people and strengthening critical infrastructure across North America and New Zealand. GSI is the premier geohazard mitigation firm specializing in emergency slope stabilization, landslide repair, grouting, and micropiles through innovative design-build delivery. Access Limited brings over a century of steep-slope expertise and operates North America’s largest fleet of spider excavators, delivering complex rockfall and geotechnical solutions in the most challenging environments. RoadGuard, founded in 2024, unites industry-leading roadway safety companies providing guardrail, bridge railing, highway signage, fencing, and specialty fabrication services. Across all our businesses, we are driven by innovation, extreme ownership, technical excellence, and a relentless commitment to measurable results that improve safety and infrastructure resilience. GSI is building out its Rail Infrastructure crews and is looking for experienced field technicians to join teams executing slope stabilization, geohazard mitigation, and emergency response projects on and adjacent to active railroad corridors across the U.S. This is a field crew role — you'll be doing the work. If you've put in real hours on heavy civil, geotechnical, or railroad projects and you take pride in doing things right under pressure, we want to talk to you. Rail experience is a plus, and candidates with a background in active right-of-way or MOW environments will stand out. What we're looking for across all experience levels is a track record of hands-on field work, a genuine commitment to safety, and the drive to grow in a specialized trade. We hire at multiple experience levels — from technicians building on a solid construction foundation to veterans ready to step into a lead role. Where you start depends on what you bring. Where you go from here depends on what you do with it. Please note: Due to the nature of working on active railroad corridors, all candidates must be able to pass an extensive background check as a condition of employment.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience working on active construction jobsites in heavy civil, geotechnical, railroad, or closely related field environments
  • A hands-on work ethic and the physical ability to perform demanding outdoor work in varying terrain and conditions
  • Commitment to safety — you follow the plan, speak up when something isn't right, and look out for the people around you
  • Clear communication and the ability to take direction and work effectively as part of a crew
  • Comfort with 100% travel — this is a travel-rotation role and you'll be deployed nationally
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to pass an extensive background check required for active railroad corridor work

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience on geotechnical, slope stabilization, drilling, anchoring, grouting, or shotcrete projects
  • Railroad or MOW field experience and familiarity with Roadway Worker Protection / FRA compliance
  • Hi-rail certification or experience working from rail-mounted equipment
  • OSHA 10 or 30 certification
  • CDL-A

Responsibilities

  • Install slope stabilization systems, soil nails, rock anchors, drainage solutions, shotcrete, and grouting to protect rail corridors from landslides, rockfall, scour, and embankment failure
  • Execute daily safety plans alongside your Superintendent — you are an active participant in keeping your crew safe, not a passive one
  • Operate and maintain equipment on active jobsites — proper care of tools and machinery is part of the job
  • Support site organization, material handling, and jobsite logistics
  • Assist with daily documentation including logs, photos, safety checklists, and compliance records
  • Respond to emergency callouts — GSI deploys 24/7 and your crew will be part of that response network
  • Learn from experienced Superintendents and Senior Technicians — GSI builds people, not just projects

Benefits

  • Competitive hourly rate based on experience level
  • Annual performance bonus
  • Equity ownership program
  • 100% paid travel (lodging, per diem)
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance (HSA/FSA eligible)
  • Life, disability, and accident insurance
  • 401(k)
  • Generous paid time off
