This role provides daily guidance and work assignments to the Materials Movement Rail Technician team to ensure safe, timely, and efficient operations. The position facilitates communication between the rail team and managers across Warehouse, Extrusion, and Plant Operations. The Rail Technician operates, maintains, and performs preventive maintenance on the “Rail King” locomotive. They conduct railcar and boxcar inspections, applying current cleaning, repair, and maintenance procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory and company standards. This role ensures accurate completion of shipping/receiving paperwork, material inspection forms, and task/work orders. The technician maintains current certifications and demonstrates familiarity with AAR and Texas Railroad Commission rules and regulations. They perform basic railcar maintenance, cleaning, and repairs using hand tools and equipment. Additionally, they regularly repair, maintain, and facilitate the use of Supersacks, Gaylord containers, and other resin containment vessels. The role involves interacting with inventory management systems to track inventory and materials with a high degree of accuracy. The technician demonstrates leadership in promoting safe work practices in all areas of responsibility and supports customer relations by using strong interpersonal and communication skills.
