About The Position

Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Machine Operator – Utility is responsible for setting up, calibrating, and operating high-speed equipment with robotic elements to form or cut steel to specified dimensions and quality standards. This role plays a critical part in maintaining efficient production operations while ensuring safety, quality, and productivity goals are achieved. This position is ideal for individuals with strong mechanical aptitude, manufacturing experience, and a commitment to continuous improvement. Shift: 3rd Shift – 7:00 PM to 5:30 AM

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ability to read and write English and maintain production records and logs.
  • Strong mathematical skills, including addition, subtraction, decimals, and fractions.
  • Experience using measuring devices such as tape measures, micrometers, and calipers.
  • Ability to operate forklifts, cranes, and other equipment necessary for job completion.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
  • Commitment to promoting safe work practices in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Regular, full-time, predictable onsite attendance is required.
  • Ability to move objects and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over extended periods without fatigue.
  • Constant movement and use of limbs requiring good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina.
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position for several hours.
  • Ability to lift, climb, bend, stoop, push, and pull.
  • Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds.
  • Must be able to stand for 10–12 hours per shift.
  • Ability to perform work in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Other physical requirements as needed for the position.

Nice To Haves

  • Manufacturing or related industrial experience preferred.
  • Experience operating and calibrating high-speed equipment with robotic elements preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Observe all safety procedures and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) requirements to operate equipment safely and effectively.
  • Operate and calibrate high-speed equipment with robotic elements to meet production specifications and quality standards.
  • Perform advanced equipment setups and calibrations.
  • Inspect materials before, during, and after production to identify quality issues.
  • Record and report any quality deficiencies to the supervisor or quality department.
  • Maintain equipment tooling and tools necessary for efficient job completion.
  • Diagnose equipment and quality issues while minimizing scrap and production delays.
  • Complete reports related to production, changeovers, and scrap material.
  • Assist Maintenance with equipment repairs and preventive maintenance activities.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Perform housekeeping duties to maintain clean and safe work areas.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by management.
