The Radiology Technologist in the Cardiac Cath Lab provides scrub support during diagnostic and interventional procedures, anticipating provider needs. This role requires competence in all roles for Cath/EP or IR, and the ability to operate all imaging and related equipment, serving as a radiation expert resource. The technologist will ensure clear communication and collaboration with providers and the team regarding technical issues to maintain quality assurance in imaging, hemodynamics, and oximetry. Patient care must be delivered safely and within the scope of practice, with strict adherence to sterile technique during prepping, draping, assisting, and circulating. Safety tools and tactics are to be utilized in all patient care interactions. The technologist will act as a patient advocate, ensuring documentation, identifying educational needs, and agreeing on a plan of care. This role also involves serving as a resource to the team, providing inservices on technical skill enhancement, radiation safety, image quality, QA, and closure device techniques. Assisting with supply inventory and acting as a technical expert are also key responsibilities. Active participation in site or system teams, attending staff meetings, and ongoing educational offerings are expected.
