About The Position

The Radiology Tech in the Electrophysiology Lab will be responsible for setting up sterile fields, preparing patients for cases, and operating mapping equipment during procedures. This role involves operating multiple pieces of equipment, troubleshooting issues, admitting and orienting patients, and accurately entering patient information into databases and systems. The technologist will explain procedures to patients and/or their significant others, maintain equipment and supplies, and perform as a scrub assistant. They will operate and maintain electrophysiology lab equipment, including cardiac mapping systems and intracardiac echocardiography machines, and assist physicians during procedures such as catheter placements, electrophysiology studies, and device implantations. The role also includes collecting and analyzing cardiac rhythm strips, observing safety regulations, and demonstrating a commitment to professional growth and staying updated with technological changes.

Requirements

  • Current CPR certification required or must be obtained within thirty (30) days of hire.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) required within six (6) months from date of hire into classification.
  • Currently registered as a Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) through Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) and/or American Registry of Radiology Technologist (ARRT).
  • Two years' experience in a cardiac catheterization lab or electrophysiology lab may substitute for licensure/certification/registration requirement.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • One year of experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Set up sterile fields, prep patients for cases and operate mapping equipment during cases.
  • Operate multiple pieces of equipment that are utilized.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues.
  • Admit and orient patient to electrophysiology lab according to pre-procedural checklist.
  • Accurately enter patient information to database, hemodynamic and x-ray systems.
  • Explain testing procedure to patient and/or significant others including exam to be performed, type of contrast media used, length of exam and equipment necessary to perform exam.
  • Maintain all the equipment and accessories needed for cases and complete the room inventory.
  • Set up rooms for cases and perform as scrub assistant.
  • Operate and maintain electrophysiology lab equipment, including cardiac mapping systems and intracardiac echocardiography machines.
  • Maintain supplies entering charges for supplies used during cases.
  • Assist physicians during electrophysiology procedures, including catheter placements, electrophysiology studies, and device implantations.
  • Communicate information to physician about patients and/or cases.
  • Collect and analyze cardiac rhythm strips and other diagnostic data.
  • Observe all occupational and radiation safety regulations.
  • Wear appropriate protective aprons, goggles and gloves.
  • Demonstrate a responsible attitude toward continued professional growth.
  • Maintain all required certifications/licensures; complete all mandatory education requirements.
  • Stay abreast of changes in technology.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
