Radiology Tech Assistant
About The Position
As a Radiology Tech Assistant, you transport patients to and from Imaging Services in a friendly, safe, and timely manner, providing support to patients and technologists. The role includes assisting technologists with room set-up, greeting patients, scheduling exams, answering telephones, transferring patients on and off exam tables, compiling patient histories, retrieving previous exams, and completing necessary paperwork. Success requires excellent customer service and phone etiquette, a courteous, caring, professional attitude, and the ability to provide safe, efficient direct patient care alongside administrative support.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- Current Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association.
Nice To Haves
- Previous direct patient care experience.
- Emergency Medical Technician.
Responsibilities
- Transport patients to and from Imaging Services safely and promptly.
- Manage patient handoff communication and convey information to the technologist.
- Assist technologists with room set-up.
- Greet patients, schedule exams, answer telephones, and complete necessary paperwork.
- Transfer patients on and off exam tables and assist with positioning for exams.
- Gather pertinent patient history, identify exam inconsistencies or contraindications, and notify the technologist.
- Retrieve previous exams.
- Explain tests and procedures to patients and address their concerns.
- Minimize radiation exposure using ALARA principles, use appropriate PPE, and operate equipment according to manufacturer instructions.
- Clean equipment and maintain the environment for infection control.
- Maintain current CPR certification and complete mandatory hospital patient safety and compliance training.
