About The Position

Performs a variety of support functions to facilitate services for radiology patients while following radiation-safety guidelines. Provides a high level of patient care and customer service to promote patient satisfaction. This is an onsite position at Lehigh Valley Hospital–Hellertown, working weekends from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Less than one year of experience in a customer service role.
• Ability to interact with patients and colleagues with a compassionate, positive, and upbeat disposition.
• Ability to multitask.
• Basic computer and typing skills.
• Interpersonal and communication skills.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification; Pennsylvania requirement is to obtain it within 30 days.
• Ability to lift and carry 40–50 pounds, including pushing or pulling patients on beds or stretchers and assisting with lateral transfers.
• Frequent to continuous standing and walking; patient transporters may walk 8–10 miles per shift.
• Depending on role-specific activities, ability to kneel, bend, squat, and perform CPR.

Responsibilities

• Confirm physician orders are complete, including the signature, ordered study, and reason for the test or diagnosis/CPT codes; obtain missing information before treatment.
• Coordinate daily work duties and communicate necessary information.
• Document LMP, fluoroscopy time, radiologist, relevant history, and other required information.
• Confirm supplies and equipment are available to meet patient-care and department requirements.
• Maintain accurate database information and perform clerical and computer functions that support patient care.
• Ensure safe and efficient patient movement and transportation within, to, and from departments.
• Confirm images have transferred to PACS before a study is complete.
• Perform registrations as required.
• Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and orderliness in the immediate work area.
