The Radiology Supervisor oversees the day-to-day operations of the imaging department, including organizing staff schedules and coverage needs, and maintaining productivity and quality standards. This role involves overseeing staff activities, monitoring room utilization, and providing work direction to technical nursing staff. The supervisor serves as a resource for interpretation, education, and implementation of policies and procedures. They are responsible for developing and maintaining quality assurance and performance improvement programs, evaluating costs, patient care, and safety. This position requires maintaining communication with department leaders, technologists, radiologists, and other departments to ensure optimal patient flow and care. The supervisor also plans and implements cost-effective technical and system changes to benefit patient care, resolves interdepartmental problems, and investigates patient and staff complaints. Budgetary responsibilities and participation in capital acquisition research and implementation are also key aspects of this role. Additionally, the supervisor assists in developing job descriptions, policies, and procedures, and performs human resources responsibilities for staff, including coaching, performance reviews, and recommending hiring, compensation, and disciplinary actions. This role requires adherence to the organization's Code of Ethical Conduct and ensuring compliance with applicable policies, regulations, and laws. The position also requires demonstrating knowledge and skills for age-appropriate patient care, understanding growth and development principles, and assessing patient needs based on age-specific requirements.
