About The Position

The Radiology Student Intern functions as a staff technologist within Radiology under the direction of the Manager of Radiology Services and the supervision of a Registered Radiologic Technologist. This student technologist role provides patient care during general X-ray and MRI diagnostic and/or research exams using established, accepted techniques or MRI parameters appropriate to patients from birth through end of life. The position does not include contrast injecting or radiology operating room procedures. Minnesota X-ray Operator certification is required except for MRI work.

Requirements

• Currently attend and be enrolled in an accredited Radiologic Technology program, working toward American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification.
• For the West: students in a four-year program must be one year from graduation; students in a two-year program must be six months from graduation.
• Have current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification or be able to become certified within one month from the date of hire.
• For Minnesota work, hold X-ray Operator certification and be in good standing with the Minnesota Department of Health; MRI is an exception.

Responsibilities

• Provide optimal patient care during general X-ray diagnostic and/or research exams using established and accepted techniques appropriate to the patient’s age.
• Provide optimal patient care during MRI diagnostic and/or research exams using established and accepted MRI parameters appropriate to the patient’s age.
• Assist with department workflow by checking in and screening patients.
• Perform room turnover.
• Monitor the technologist worklist.
• Follow instructions from staff technologists.
