The Department of Radiology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Medicine is seeking highly qualified individuals for tenure-earning and tenured positions at the rank of Assistant, Associate, and full Professor. These roles are focused on imaging-related and radiochemistry research, with a specific emphasis on leadership for the cyclotron facility and radiopharmaceutical production programs. The successful candidates will be expected to have a PhD, demonstrate strong leadership and collaborative skills, possess a clear research vision, mentor trainees, and secure extramural funding (e.g., NIH, federal, foundation, industry). UAB Radiology has a growing research program with expertise in molecular imaging and therapeutics, supported by advanced infrastructure including a TR24 cyclotron, GE TOF PET/MRI, GE Omni 32 PET/CT, and small animal imaging systems. The department is strategically investing in new imaging technologies to support its research and clinical programs. The Cyclotron Director will be responsible for overseeing radiochemistry operations, radiopharmaceutical development and production, regulatory compliance, facility personnel, and infrastructure planning, while also fostering interdisciplinary collaborations. The role involves teaching excellence at the graduate level and service to the University and profession. Candidates for tenured positions must be nationally recognized researchers, while tenure-eligible candidates need a strong vision for independent research. Salary will be commensurate with experience. The department collaborates with various UAB schools and centers, including the School of Medicine, School of Engineering, College of Arts and Sciences (Department of Chemistry), UAB Hospital, O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center, Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (ADRC), and the American Parkinson Disease Association Center for Advanced Research.
