About The Position

Under the general supervision of the Medical Imaging Supervisor, the Radiology Clerk accomplishes the Medical Imaging Department’s strategic objectives by planning and organizing the assigned functions required to operate and maintain departmental activities and services. Maintains confidentiality of all privileged information. This list of duties and responsibilities is illustrative only of the tasks performed by this position and is not all-inclusive.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma
  • Must possess a minimum of two (2) years of experience in clerical work or administrative support
  • Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screen, Employee Health Program requirement, and background investigation.
  • Knowledge of applicable tribal, federal, state, county, and local laws, regulations, including Joint Commission Accreditation.
  • Knowledge of company personnel policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of institutional regulations regarding patient care, fire safety, infection control, disaster plans, and emergency codes.
  • Knowledge of radiographic examinations and records management procedures.
  • Knowledge of office equipment.
  • Knowledge of office management skills in organization and accurate record keeping.
  • Knowledge of department equipment and able to identify minor repairs that is needed.
  • Knowledge of business English, proper spelling, grammar, punctuation, and mathematics.
  • Ability to recognize subtle differences between health and pathological areas.
  • Ability to maintain adequate inventory of all supplies and equipment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in the English language both verbally and in writing with staff and the public.
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds and with co-workers at all levels.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals and demonstrate team-building skills with empathy and enthusiasm.

  • Skill in analyzing problems, projecting consequences, identifying solutions, and implementing recommendations.

  • Ability to speak the Navajo language and/or familiarity with the Navajo Way.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with reviews on the Medical Imaging Quality Assurance program, which complies with the Joint Commission and Arizona State Statutes and conforms with NHF/SMH Quality Assurance plan.
  • Ensure compliance with all tribal, state, and federal laws, policies, and regulations.
  • Assure all patient orders, lab work, and consent forms are complete in a timely manner.
  • Organize department files.
  • Answer telephone calls and take messages for department personnel.
  • Schedule Patients for Medical Imaging procedures in Meditech Expanse.
  • Develop and maintain an inventory ordering system for supplies.
  • Prepare requisition orders for the department.
  • Daily review of imaging reports to ensure they are uploaded into Meditech.
  • Assist with quality and safety programs to ensure hospital compliance.
  • Participate in reviews of program goals and objectives for Medical Imaging.
  • Maintain cooperative communication with other departments.
  • Assist with inventory control of supplies and equipment assigned to the department.
  • Attend regular staff meetings to ensure communication among personnel regarding program-related activities.
  • Responds to and understands Disaster situations for the Medical Imaging Department.
  • Participate in orientation and training to ensure compliance.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all privileged information.
  • Comply with company policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as required.
