About The Position

The Los Angeles City College (LACC) Department of Radiologic Technology is seeking a part-time adjunct instructor for the Radiologic Technology Program. This program prepares students for careers as Radiologic Technologists and eligibility for the ARRT examination and California state licensure. LACC, founded in 1929, is the oldest college in the Los Angeles Community College District and is known for its diverse student body and innovative programs. The department aims to prepare students for a career pathway in a thriving industry.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and two years of professional experience; OR Associate’s degree and six years of professional experience.
Certification by the American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT) and the California Department of Public Health (CRT).
Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender and ethnic backgrounds of community college faculty, staff and students.
Professional experience must be directly related to the teaching assignment.
Fully vaccinated or have an approved exemption for COVID-19 vaccination series.
Provide a medical certificate indicating fitness to instruct or associate with students (at applicant's expense after selection and prior to employment).

Nice To Haves

Master’s degree in Radiologic Technology, Health Science or Health Care Administration.
Excellent academic record and experience teaching radiologic technology at the community college level, including in a clinical environment.
Knowledge of current radiologic technology theory, lab components, and clinical practice (e.g., medical terminology, radiographic math and physics, patient healthcare issues, patient communication and interactions, fluoroscopy, image production, proper radiographic and anatomical positioning, quality management).
Experience with proper clinical documentation in radiology information systems (RIS) (e.g., Epic, PACS) and health informatics with knowledge and compliance of standards of confidentiality (HIPAA).
Ability to assume responsibility and accountability for instruction, evaluation of students, and planning and implementing curriculum content.
Advanced certifications (e.g., CT, MRI, U/S, mammography, radiation therapy, DEXA, interventional radiology, nuclear med, etc.).
Commitment to student learning and success within the CCCCO Guided Pathways model.
Development, understanding, and experience teaching and assessing student learning outcomes (PLOs, CSLOs, and SLOs).
Ability to work effectively with computers, augmented and virtual reality, and other forms of innovative technology in the instruction of Radiography courses.
Commitment to collegiality within the instructional environment.
Ability to establish positive relationships and maintain collegiality with college personnel, department faculty and staff, and clinical and/or community partnerships.

Responsibilities

Teach theory, laboratory, and clinical components of radiologic technology courses.
Provide resource and coaching to students as needed.
Participate in the development and assessment of student learning outcomes (SLO's) and Guided Pathways.
Maintain scheduled office hours for student contact.
Participate in professional development activities and maintain current knowledge in the academic and clinical practice field.
Interface with assigned clinical facilities to maintain a desirable learning environment.
Develop and update department course curricula and course syllabi.
Develop resources, materials, and strategies, including using multimedia technology platforms, to teach students in a multicultural environment.
Collaborate with other instructors to improve department development, peer learning, and creative team teaching.
Actively participate in campus responsibilities such as faculty curriculum/department meetings, accreditation, student enrollment, and recruitment activities.
Utilize distance education (synchronous and/or asynchronous learning) as well as in-person teaching assignments.
Oversee student learning at multiple LACC locations and various clinical placement sites.
Assist in developing new courses and curricula.
Provide creative learning scenarios and activities for optimal student participation and development of critical thinking.
Participate in departmental duties as assigned by the chairperson and/or director, including curriculum development, faculty professional growth opportunities, and meetings with professional organizations.
Participate in program review and accreditation processes, plan and attend advisory committee meetings, revise course outlines, assist with student advisement, and participate actively on campus committees.
Develop supplementary materials and incorporate best practices of instructional design and innovative technology.
