About The Position

Adjunct Faculty appointments are located on Parkland College's Campus in Champaign, Illinois and have a salary range of $1,406.00 - 1,586.00 per Equated Contact Hour (ECH) commensurate with qualifications and experience. Applications accepted until position is filled. Currently seeking an instructor for Fall 2026 semester. Adjunct Faculty teach part-time, advise and mentor students. Hiring needs are dependent on student enrollment and course schedules. Courses available may be during days, evenings, weekends or online. This position is an on-campus, part-time appointment covered by the Parkland College Part-Time Faculty collective bargaining unit. Currently seeking instructors to begin instruction in summer session 2026.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or appropriate certification is required to teach technical courses leading to degrees.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification or equivalent and registration in the pertinent discipline.
  • Two years’ full-time experience or equivalent in the professional discipline.
  • Maintains Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA) licensure.
  • Ability to learn the Parkland information system and new programs as technology changes.
  • Maintains all professional credentials required to teach in area of discipline.
  • Prospective new hires will successfully complete a post offer, pre-employment criminal background check.
  • Must meet all clinical requirements including successfully completing a post offer, pre-employment clinical drug test.
  • Candidates for employment at Parkland College must either not be a SURS annuitant or must be willing to suspend his/her SURS annuity upon employment. This applies to all SURS annuitants except those receiving their annuity under either the Self-Managed Plan (SMP) or by lump sum payment.

Nice To Haves

  • Computed Tomography and/or Magnetic Resonance Imaging certifications are recommended.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains current knowledge of program goals, policies and procedures and student progress.
  • Understands clinical objectives and clinical evaluation system.
  • Provides students with clinical instruction and supervision.
  • Observes student performance during classroom and/or laboratory instruction.
  • Maintains current knowledge of professional discipline and educational methodologies through continuing education units to provide professional development.
  • Maintains open communication between the program official and program staff.
  • Demonstrates a positive professional attitude toward students, the program, and the teaching process.
  • Serves as a role model and demonstrates professionalism.
  • Maintains confidentiality in accordance with Parkland College policy and program guidelines.
  • Performs professional duties in accordance with the established policies and procedures of the college.
  • Provides classroom instruction in accordance with the stated philosophy, objectives, and established course outlines of the college.
  • Informs students of course regulations, evaluation procedures, and other information pertinent to the course; prepares a course syllabus for each course and distributes it early in each term.
  • Is available for student advising/mentoring.
  • Maintains regular office hours to ensure availability for student consultation; provides assistance to students in a timely manner.
  • Maintains accurate scholastic records of students; submits required reports on student progress according to published deadlines.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the department chair.
