About The Position

Performs general diagnostic procedures using x-ray and auxiliary equipment, ensuring that appropriate information is obtained to support physician diagnosis. Prepares and positions patients, explains procedures, operates imaging equipment, obtains images for physician interpretation, monitors patients during examinations, and handles imaging records and related tasks. Maintains equipment and work areas and follows infection-control guidelines.

Requirements

Graduate of an approved Radiologic Technology program.
New York State Department of Health licensure as a Radiologic Technologist.
American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registration.
Ability to communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

Prepare patients for examinations and explain procedures in layman’s terms to ease anxiety.
Screen patients according to protocol and ensure consent has been obtained when necessary.
Position patients for optimum testing procedures and conditions.
Set up equipment to perform the proper procedure in a timely manner.
Obtain x-ray images of prescribed anatomical areas for physician interpretation.
Observe patients during examinations, recognize abnormal changes, and report them.
Review and acknowledge images in the computer system and ensure patient data is accurate.
Process imaging and print CDs as required.
Gather previous related patient reports as required.
Perform minor repairs and adjust equipment as required.
Follow infection-control guidelines.
Maintain cleanliness of the work area, equipment, and accessories.
Perform related duties as required.
