About The Position

Performs general diagnostic procedures using x-ray and auxiliary equipment and ensures that proper information is obtained for physician diagnosis. The role prepares and positions patients, explains procedures, obtains diagnostic x-ray images, monitors patients during examinations, reviews and processes images, and maintains equipment and work areas while following infection control guidelines.

Requirements

Graduate of an approved Radiologic Technology program.
New York State Department of Health licensure as a Radiologic Technologist.
Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
Ability to communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

Prepare patients for examinations.
Explain procedures in layman’s terms to relieve patient anxiety.
Screen patients according to protocol and ensure consent has been obtained when necessary.
Position patients to optimize testing procedures and conditions.
Set up equipment to administer the appropriate procedure in a timely manner.
Obtain x-ray images of the prescribed anatomical area for physician interpretation.
Observe patients during examinations, recognize abnormal changes, and report them.
Acknowledge and review images in the computer system.
Ensure patient data is accurate; process imaging and print CDs as required.
Gather previous related patient reports as required.
Perform minor repairs and adjust equipment as required.
Follow infection control guidelines.
Maintain cleanliness of the work area, equipment, and accessories.
Perform related duties as required.
