About The Position

Performs general diagnostic procedures using x-ray and auxiliary equipment and ensures that proper information is obtained for physician diagnosis. The position prepares and screens patients, explains procedures, obtains images of prescribed anatomical areas, monitors patients during examinations, and processes and reviews imaging. It also includes maintaining equipment and work areas, following infection-control guidelines, and performing related duties as required. The work shift is 8:00 AM–4:00 PM on flex days; the position is per diem.

Requirements

Graduate of an approved Radiologic Technology program.
New York State Department of Health licensure as a Radiologic Technologist.
American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registration.
Ability to communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

Prepare patients for examinations.
Explain procedures in layman's terms to reduce patient anxiety.
Screen patients according to protocol and ensure consent has been obtained when necessary.
Position patients for optimum testing procedures and conditions.
Set up equipment to administer the proper procedure in a timely manner.
Obtain x-ray images of anatomical areas of interest as prescribed for physician interpretation.
Observe patients during examinations, recognize abnormal changes, and report them.
Acknowledge and review images in the computer system.
Ensure accuracy of patient data; process imaging and print CDs as required.
Gather previous related patient reports as required.
Perform minor repairs and adjust equipment as required.
Follow infection-control guidelines.
Maintain cleanliness of the work area, equipment, and accessories.
Perform related duties as required.
