About The Position

At St. Tammany Health System, the Radiologic Technologist supports the delivery of healthcare by safely manipulating radiographic equipment, positioning patients, using radiation protection devices, and selecting technical factors to produce optimum-quality radiographs. The role also tracks patient studies and acquires performed studies in PACS. The employee may be asked to perform other delegated tasks related to the proper function of the Radiology Department.

This is a Weekend Only Work (WOW) position requiring work on at least five of every six consecutive weekends. The scheduled hours are Friday, 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday, 7:00 a.m.–11:00 p.m. The employee is paid for hours worked, plus shift and WOW differentials.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited radiology technology program.
• A.R.R.T. registration in Radiology.
• State license in radiology from the LSRT. New graduates may present a temporary LSRT license, but must obtain permanent A.R.R.T. and LSRT licenses within 60 days upon completion of the radiology technology program.
• Current BLS certification through an ILCOR-provided course, such as a course from Ochsner Health System, the American Heart Association, or the American Red Cross. The course must include a manikin check-off.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with patients of all types and ages.
• Strong guest relations skills.
• Good physical health; ability to stand, sit, or walk for long periods and lift at least 50 pounds.
• Ability to work with a moderate level of noise.
• Availability to work a minimum of five out of six consecutive weekends.
