Requirements

  • Certificate from accredited School of Radiologic Technology.
  • New York State license or temporary permit to practice Diagnostic Radiology.
  • Certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Temporary permit to practice Diagnostic Radiography issued by New York State Department of Health is acceptable for 180 days only.
  • ARRT credentialed License will be required after the 180 days have passed.
  • Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Performing medically prescribed radiographic procedures.
  • Demonstrating skill in using the hospital and radiology information systems (HIS/RIS), including patient information access, RIS patient tracking, documenting times, film library functions, HIS data access, and scheduling/modifying exams.
  • Independently implementing patient procedures according to departmental protocols, explaining procedures and equipment, ensuring patient comfort and privacy, positioning patients and equipment, using lead markers, following accepted radiologic procedures, ensuring high-quality X-rays, and using positioning/immobilizing devices.
  • Effectively assessing patient information and status to plan appropriate procedures, including patient identification, reviewing requisitions, conferring with medical staff, seeking assistance for difficult results, determining required protocols, consulting policy manuals, following special instructions, and recognizing the need for isolation precautions.
  • Demonstrating reliability through good attendance and punctuality, adhering to departmental guidelines for time off, meeting Employee Health requirements (annual assessment, TB screening, immunizations), maintaining a professional appearance, wearing identification badges, and completing continuing education credits for registry status.
  • Demonstrating skill in equipment set-up, utilization, and maintenance, including quality control checks, safe and productive use of imaging and peripheral equipment, reporting malfunctioning equipment, and knowledge of computer product printers.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
