About The Position

Adventist Health Specialty Bakersfield, formerly known as Bakersfield Heart Hospital since 1999, is expanding its legacy of exceptional heart care to better serve Kern County. The facility is a 47-bed hospital with three operating rooms, four cardiac catheterization labs, and offers a range of specialty services. Bakersfield itself is a growing city with affordable housing, pleasant weather, quality education, and proximity to national parks and entertainment. This role involves operating x-ray equipment to produce radiographs as ordered by physicians. The technologist will position and instruct patients, adjust equipment, and determine appropriate settings for each radiograph.

Requirements

  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists – Radiography (ARRT-R): Required
  • Radiologic Tech (RT) in the state of practice: Required in CA and HI
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required
  • Fluoroscopy license in state of employment: Required in CA within 6 months of hire
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required
  • Fluoroscopy (FLUORO): Required

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's Degree in radiologic technology: Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Performs screening procedures for diagnostic interpretation.
  • Explains procedures to patients and answers questions.
  • Prepares equipment for use as needed.
  • Prepares examination rooms for patient exams.
  • Positions patients for imaging exams.
  • Monitors patients and ensures safety during exams.
  • Produces diagnostic images.
  • Documents exam information.
  • Reports important information to the physician.
  • Verifies exams on PACS.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
