About The Position

The Radiographer, under direct supervision, performs routine Diagnostic X-Ray examinations using fixed and/or portable equipment in accordance with established protocols, safety guidelines and quality standards. This role involves performing diagnostic imaging on patients as ordered by a care provider in routine or emergent conditions, ensuring testing is performed safely and with the highest quality standards, maintaining a consistent focus on patient-centric care. The Radiographer will also assist with basic fluoroscopic procedures when required, prepare patients for procedures, review clinical history, and safely administer contrast per protocol. They will manage and escalate contrast reactions and changes in patient condition, respond to patient and family inquiries, and collaborate with team members across OU Health. Responsibilities include conducting post-testing quality reviews, accurately documenting in EMR/PACS, transferring images and data, and performing equipment maintenance. The role may also involve supporting academic partnerships through teaching students, serving as a departmental preceptor, and providing on-call clinical coverage.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited imaging/radiology program as defined by ARRT or Completion of JRCERT accredited Military Educational Program is accepted in lieu of other educational requirements (for Radiographer I).
No prior experience required (for Radiographer I).
Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire.
ARRT(RT) Certification required within 12 months of hire (for Radiographer I).
Associate's Degree from an accredited imaging/radiology program as defined by ARRT (for Radiographer II & III).
At least 3 years of experience as a Radiographer required (for Radiographer II).
ARRT(RT) Certification required at hire (for Radiographer II).
At least 5 years of experience as a Radiographer required (for Radiographer III).
ARRT(RT)(R) required at hire (for Radiographer III).
Core knowledge and understanding of normal and abnormal anatomy and physiology; radiologic technologies and terminology associated with Diagnostic X-Ray.
Ability and skill to apply core-level primary specialty theory, practices and techniques to perform, post-process, analyze and annotate study data or procedure documentation with general supervision or assistance.
Knowledge of imaging and Diagnostic X-Ray policies, procedures, techniques, and processes.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age and patient populations served.
Demonstrates knowledge of and ability to apply HIPAA guidelines and standards.
Ability to prioritize and complete clinical or non-clinical work assignments.
Must be able to multi-task and remain calm in stressful situations.
Ability to work as part of a diverse team and communicate effectively with others.

Responsibilities

Accurately documents in EMR/PACS per organizational policies and procedures.
Transfers images and data to the appropriate electronic health system, enters technical data/findings and prepares study for reporting by physician.
Performs quality control checks, cleaning, disinfecting and other equipment maintenance tasks per manufacturer instructions for use and other regulatory guidelines.
Ensures that technical quality of testing meets established protocols and applicable accreditation standards.
Assists with quality assurance and performance improvement tasks as requested.
