About The Position

Compass Point Federal (Compass Point) an AKIMA Company is looking for a Radio Operator to support a mission- oriented program located in Ft. Huachuca. This individual will provide technical assistance to the radio operators and Army Military Auxiliary Radio Systems (MARS) volunteers on all operational and technical issues regarding the gateway operations. This is Part-time position requiring less than 30 hours a week of work or as required and coordinated by the Project Manager. The employee must obtain an FCC license within 3 months of hire. Requirements

  • U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
  • At least 1 year of experience in a military communications or Public Safety Answering Point (such as 911 dispatch center).
  • High School diploma.
  • Ability to speak, write and understand.
  • Effective oral and written communications.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with co-workers and Skill in use of Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Working knowledge of HF radio propagation.
  • Working knowledge of radio procedure and Ability to obtain required licenses and the employee must obtain an FCC license within 3 months of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Operate Radio Telephone, Radio Teletype.
  • Direct on-air operations, perform as Net Control.
  • Perform Message Center.
  • Perform operator level maintenance and PMCS checks.
  • Provide assistance to volunteer MARS members on procedural matters.
  • Operate HF and VHF radio equipment and associated modem and processing.
  • Guard multiple frequencies and circuits simultaneously.
  • Select authorized operating frequencies based on prevailing ionosphere.
  • Draft, Send, Receive, Code, Decode, Sort, and Forward messages in prescribed formats and Perform operator level PCMS checks, document and report all deficiencies.
  • Participate in scheduled DoD or other government exercises, which may require working evening or night shifts.
  • Safeguard all government property, as well as provide for the safety and well-being of Participate in physical security, information assurance, and force protection plans and procedures.
