The Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) is the state of Florida’s social services agency, overseeing services for child safety, fostering, adoption, domestic violence, adult protective services, refugees, homelessness, mental health, substance abuse, childcare providers, human trafficking and public assistance. Its mission is to protect the vulnerable, promote strong and economically self-sufficient families, and advance personal and family recovery and resiliency. Within DCF, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health (SAMH) Program office is the single state authority for substance abuse and mental health services, responsible for planning, evaluation, and implementation of a comprehensive statewide system of care. Florida State Hospital (FSH) is a mental health treatment facility owned and operated by the State of Florida and part of DCF. This highly responsible and professional position serves as a Radio-Teletype Operator within Emergency Services at FSH. The ideal candidate is a collaborative team player, works seamlessly across all sections, uses independent judgment, is proactive, and has exceptional attention to detail. The role requires being driven, organized, and thriving in a fast-paced environment. This position is located in the Fire Department, serving as the Central Dispatcher center for both Security and Fire Department, including any other related Emergency services. The primary function is to receive and dispatch information concerning potential emergencies at FSH requiring Security and/or Fire/Medical response teams, including alarms, assistance calls, Fire and medical emergency calls. It is also responsible for the Centralized Communications System for Florida State Hospital and after-hours notification of key personnel.
