About The Position

Administers ionizing irradiation to patients in accordance with prescriptions and instructions from department physicians. The role delivers prescribed radiation therapy, prepares treatment rooms and equipment, monitors patients for reactions or complications, maintains treatment records and charts, and provides clinical supervision of students.

Requirements

• Registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Radiation Therapy (AART-T) is required.
• Certification of Therapeutic Radiology Technology (RTT) is required.
• All required vaccinations as a condition of employment and annually thereafter, where applicable; medical and religious exemptions may apply.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s degree in radiological technology or equivalent; preferred (some certifications require a bachelor's degree).
• Master’s degree; preferred.
• Experience in radiologic technology; preferred.
• CPR or BLS certification from an approved vendor per Adventist Health policy; preferred.
• Fluoroscopy Permit from the state of practice, Department of Health Services; preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver the prescribed course of radiation therapy by checking prescriptions, diagnosis charts, and patient identification.
• Explain procedures to patients, including how to communicate during treatment and the basic treatment process.
• Deliver prescribed daily doses while observing radiation safety measures for patients and personnel.
• Prepare rooms and equipment according to prescriptions or simulations, including immobilization devices; transfer patients to treatment couches while attending to their needs.
• Observe patients for unusual reactions and signs or symptoms of developing complications, and report these to the supervisor and department physician.
• Maintain daily treatment records and regularly review patient charts to help eliminate errors and ensure blood counts and special reports are recorded properly.
• Provide clinical supervision and evaluate students' practical ability to perform procedures.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
