About The Position

Cedars Sinai, an organization recognized for its high-quality medical care and employee engagement, is seeking a Radiation Therapist. This role involves administering radiation treatments to cancer patients under the supervision of the Chief Radiation Therapist and the professional direction of a Radiation Oncologist. The therapist will be responsible for verifying treatment plans, performing quality assurance checks, documenting treatments, and coordinating patient schedules. The position requires accurate patient setup and treatment delivery, utilization of imaging technologies, operation of linear accelerators, and performance of special treatment procedures. The therapist will also be involved in patient management, education, and ensuring the proper functioning of medical equipment.

Requirements

Graduate of an ARRT approved Radiation Therapy Program required.
California Therapeutic Radiation Technologist Certification required.
American Registry of Radiologic Technology Certification required.
Basic Life Support Certification required.

Nice To Haves

Bachelors Degree in ARRT approved Radiation Therapy Program preferred.
A minimum of 3 years' technical experience as a Radiation Therapist preferred.

Responsibilities

Administer radiation treatments to cancer patients.
Verify treatment plans and perform Quality Checklist.
Document treatment, daily and weekly linear accelerator QA, portal images, and CBCT.
Coordinate and schedule patients in Mosaiq system.
Notify appropriate person of EPIC scheduling changes.
Follow physicians prescription and carry out all instructions.
Verify mathematical accuracy of treatment prescription.
Detect equipment malfunction, troubleshoot and report problem to appropriate person.
Demonstrate appropriate medical knowledge when caring for patients with urgent/emergent patients.
Demonstrate effective time management.
Proactively assist other team members to meet teamwork goals.
Accurate Set-up and treatment of patients as prescribed by a Radiation Oncologist.
Utilize imaging technologies for the purpose of simulation, treatment planning, and treatment delivery as prescribed by a Radiation Oncologist.
Operation of linear accelerator, including proper patient positioning and monitoring of patient during procedure.
Perform some special treatment procedures, such as Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS), Stereotactic Radiation Therapy (SRT), Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy (SBRT), Brachytherapy.
Perform weekly portal images, and daily CBCT, KV, VisionRT prior to delivering treatment.
Accurately complete and chart all simulation and treatment summaries, report and documentations, along with photographs of set up and tattooing of patient as required.
Appropriate and timely documentation of treatments.
Patient management and education.
Document daily pain assessment.
Verify correct side/site; Patient name; DOB prior to treatment.
Assist with The Joint Commission readiness within the department.
Ensure medical equipment is maintained and functioning properly, including daily warm-up procedures and quality assurance.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives.
