Requirements
- High School or equivalent; Post High School Vocational/Specialized Training in an accredited Radiation Therapy Education Program
- Graduate of an accredited radiologic technology course plus radiation therapy course OR Graduate of an accredited Bachelor of Science in Radiation Therapy Program
- Licensed by the California State Department of Health (Certified in Radiation Therapy)
- Certification by the ARRT – in Radiation Therapy CRT
- BLS or CPR
Responsibilities
- Deliver radiation therapy to patients according to physician prescriptions and established standards.
- Perform a range of procedures, such as IMRT, SRS, SBRT, TBI, TBE, High Dose Rate Brachytherapy, and CT-based simulations.
- Provide clinical instruction to students.
- Deliver a prescribed and planned course of radiation therapy to patients of all ages.
- Reinforce recommendations given to patient by healthcare professional concerning reaction to treatment and care of radiated area, prevention, or treatment of generalized and local side effects.
- Perform simulation procedures as prescribed by physician and assist in dosimetry procedures.
- Perform daily quality assurance checks on linear accelerators, reporting any variation in morning warm-up.
- Report improper equipment operation to appropriate personnel.
