About The Position

The Radar Mechanical Design Department leads mechanical design, development, and integration of some of the most innovative land-based and shipboard radars in the world. This includes phased array radar systems, electronic modules, pedestals, and power and cooling systems. The department comprises individuals with technical expertise and experience in hardware design, integration, and production support. The Radar Mechanical Design Department in the Hardware Engineering organization is searching for a Section Leader to join our team. As a Section Lead, you will ensure two-way communication for section members; serve as the day-to-day liaison to the programs concerning employee job assignments and growth, performance and recognition. Responsibilities also include coordinating program staffing needs and outlooks and optimizing resource utilization. The Section Lead will team with the Department Manager in the execution of Mechanical Engineering and Raytheon Engineering goals and design services and integrity across all program phases. This position is an onsite position located in either Marlborough or Tewksbury, MA.

Requirements

Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience.
Experience in hardware engineering design, development or production program execution.
Experience with leadership in frontline or project leader positions or Performance Development.
The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Active and existing security clearance required after day 1

Nice To Haves

Advanced degrees in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Math, or related science degree.
Strong interpersonal, technical writing, and presentation skills.
Familiarity with performance development processes and experience working in a matrix environment.
Proven ability to manage projects, lead teams, and foster collaboration.
Experience in technical and cost proposal development and a focus on process improvements.

Responsibilities

Technical Leadership: Contribute to the technical oversight of employees, monitor program execution, and provide technical expertise in direct support of program efforts and proposal activities.
Communication & Reporting: Lead team communication, highlights and reporting responsibilities.
Problem Solving: Serve as escalation point and recommend strategic solutions.
Continuous Improvement: Drive initiatives and support department projects enhancing productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction.

Dedicate approximately 10% of time to leadership duties, with the remaining time focused on technical contributions.
