Rad Tech Student, PRN
About The Position
The Rad Tech Student performs radiological procedures on patients of all age groups. Images must be reviewed by a staff technologist before they are submitted for interpretation. The student positions patients, selects the correct protocols, and uses the required equipment while maintaining competencies and following established imaging protocols. For exams performed in the ICU or surgery, the student must be accompanied by a staff technologist. The role provides age-specific patient care and education in accordance with prescribed standards and practices and follows radiation safety policies and dose-reduction principles.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled as a second-year student in an accredited radiological technology program.
- No prior work experience required.
- Basic Life Support (BCLS) certification required upon hire.
Responsibilities
- Perform radiological procedures on patients of all age groups.
- Ensure images are reviewed by a staff technologist before submission for interpretation.
- Position patients, select the correct protocol, and use required equipment.
- Maintain competencies for related tasks and accurately follow established imaging protocols.
- Perform ICU or surgery exams only when accompanied by a staff technologist.
- Provide quality age-specific care in accordance with prescribed standards and practices.
- Follow radiation safety policies and dose-reduction principles.
- Provide patient education and communication in accordance with prescribed standards.
