About The Position

Fluidstack is building civilization-scale infrastructure for AI, aiming to deploy 10 to 100s of GWs of compute faster than anyone else. This involves rethinking every layer of the stack, from acquiring power to designing and operating data centers. The Rack Systems Team owns the rack as a product, which is the unit of compute that Fluidstack designs, integrates, and deploys into gigawatt-scale AI data centers. Key challenges include architecting 150kW-class liquid-cooled racks with complex power, thermal, weight, and interconnect constraints, defining interfaces between rack and facility, and keeping the rack roadmap ahead of accelerator vendor roadmaps. The team operates with extreme ownership, velocity, first principles, and a passion for the problem space, often involving long hours at high intensity.

Requirements

  • 10+ years in system architecture of rack-scale compute at a hyperscaler, NVIDIA-ecosystem ODM, or AI systems company.
  • Experience owning a rack as a product end-to-end, covering power budget, cooling architecture, interconnect topology, weight, transport, and serviceability.
  • Shipped dense liquid-cooled rack-scale products, NVL-class or equivalent.
  • Led EE, ME, and thermal engineers in executing an architecture, not just advised them.
  • Experience making tradeoffs on shipping racks and handling the resulting pushback.
  • Experience writing interface control documents that allow independent movement of systems on both sides of a boundary.
  • A defensible view on copper versus optics for scale-up interconnect at 200G+ per lane, including the crossover point.

Responsibilities

  • Own the rack as a product for 150kW-class liquid-cooled deployments, including architecture, power budget, cooling, interconnect topology, structure, and serviceability, making and defending tradeoffs.
  • Write and maintain interface control documents between rack and facility, ensuring precise definitions for independent evolution of power, liquid, and network systems.
  • Lead rack EE, ME, thermal, and integration engineers, owning the architecture they execute and making technical decisions to unblock them.
  • Run design reviews with a small team to ensure high rigor and catch design faults before integration.
  • Align the rack roadmap with accelerator vendors and Fluidstack's facility architecture to ensure compatibility with future hardware.
