About The Position

The R&D Technician is primarily responsible for executing approved animal-study protocols safely, accurately, and on time. The role involves conducting research trials and collecting data such as animal weights, feed information, and sample information. It also includes standard animal husbandry and housekeeping duties.

The technician manages daily operations to ensure protocol requirements are followed, maintains clean animal environments and makes necessary resources available for animal care, identifies and communicates health issues, monitors and evaluates animals, records relevant data, and follows established medical-care and treatment plans. Under general supervision, the role also handles moderately complex clerical, administrative, technical, or customer-support issues and escalates more complex matters to appropriate staff.

Requirements

• High school diploma, secondary education level, or equivalent.
• Basic working knowledge of animal care.
• At least two years of related work experience.
• Other minimum qualifications may apply.

Nice To Haves

• Accredited industry-related animal technician licensure and/or certification.
• Clear written and oral communication.
• Experience operating scales, a forklift, feed carts, and a pallet jack.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily operations to ensure protocol requirements are carried out correctly.
• Maintain cleanliness of the animal environment and make necessary resources available for proper animal treatment.
• Conduct research trials and collect data, including animal weights, feed information, and sample information.
• Identify and communicate animal health issues and problems relevant to research.
• Monitor animal conditions; evaluate sick or injured animals; and collect and record relevant data.
• Follow implemented medical-care and treatment plans for animals.
• Handle moderately complex clerical, administrative, technical, or customer-support issues under general supervision, escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
