About The Position

Principle Business Enterprises (PBE) is looking for an R&D Specialist to join our team. In this role you will translate consumer needs, competitive insights, and technical findings into practical product and process improvements. You will work closely with cross-functional partners across QA, Operations, and Product Management to ensure ideas are effectively tested, executed, and implemented.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, or a related field
  • 2 to 5 years of experience in R&D, product development, process engineering, or a related technical role
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities independently in a fast-moving environment
  • Comfort working in both lab and manufacturing environments
  • Strong communication and organizational skills, including experience supporting lab testing, product evaluation, or plant trials
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Must be open to working in-person at our Dunbridge, Ohio location

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in hygiene, nonwovens, or absorbent product industries
  • Background in competitive product analysis and benchmarking
  • Experience working directly with suppliers on material development or troubleshooting
  • Familiarity with statistical tools such as JMP or Minitab

Responsibilities

  • Execute R&D projects from concept through lab validation and implementation
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute manufacturing line trials including material preparation, scheduling, documentation, and follow-up
  • Analyze and synthesize test data into clear, concise conclusions and actionable recommendations for cross-functional teams
  • Identify and evaluate new materials and technologies to support innovation and maintain technical competitiveness
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with QA, Operations, Product Management, and others to ensure alignment and successful execution
  • Proactively communicate project status, risks, and next steps to stakeholders
  • Maintain supplier interactions related to material sourcing, evaluation, and technical problem solving
  • Use analytical problem-solving to diagnose issues and drive solutions that enhance lab efficiency and results
  • Operate effectively in both lab and manufacturing environments, supporting hands-on development and troubleshooting
  • Support consumer research efforts including logistics, communications, and coordination as needed
  • Maintain awareness of relevant market trends and emerging technologies in key business areas
