R&D Semiconductor Integration Engineer

Coherent•Sherman, TX
•Onsite

About The Position

The R&D Semiconductor Integration Engineer manages the integration of individual processes into fabrication flows for new products. The role defines new unit-process requirements and targets, designs and integrates wafer-fabrication process flows, and works with Design, Process Engineering, Layout, Program Management, Test, and manufacturing teams to scale technologies to production and achieve manufacturing yield targets. The engineer creates test structures and layouts to fabricate and characterize new device technologies, performs DC, small-signal RF, and optical testing, and establishes test plans to collect and analyze data. The role characterizes wafer-fab design rules in relation to device performance, establishes rules that provide process margin and high product yield, and specifies and verifies in-line and PCM process-control metrics for high-volume manufacturing. The position also addresses device/process interactions and integration issues, drives improvements that benefit time to market, documents technology transfers to manufacturing, and participates in continuing yield and performance improvement efforts. The position is full-time and on-site. Regular computer and office-equipment use and interaction with team members and external contacts are part of the work. Employees must follow site EHS procedures and Coherent Corp. Corporate EHS standards. Depending on location, the role may also support applicable quality and environmental management standards.

  • Experience with New Product Introduction (NPI) and/or Product Lifecycle Management processes.
  • Experience working successfully in cross-functional teams and interacting with a broad range of functions, skills, cultures, and personalities.
  • Previous experience as a process or integration engineer in III-V electronics or opto-electronics.
  • In-depth understanding of all aspects of III-V compound semiconductor processing.
  • Familiarity with DC, small-signal RF, and optical testing and metrology of test structures.
  • Strong problem-solving, critical-thinking, and risk-management skills.
  • Strong communication, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Highly self-motivated, with a strong multidisciplinary background.
  • Ability to adhere to applicable EHS procedures and standards.
