About The Position

We are seeking an R&D PhD Intern to join our team in Broomfield, CO. This role involves applying research experience to measure and improve quantum computers using trapped ions as qubits. You will collaborate with scientists to develop new concepts, collect data on system performance, characterize device attributes, and propose improvements within a research environment.

Requirements

Currently enrolled in a PhD Program
Graduating on/after December 2027
Due to Contractual requirements, must be a U.S. Person. defined as, U.S. citizen permanent resident or green card holder, workers granted asylum or refugee status
Due to national security requirements imposed by the U.S. Government, candidates for this position must not be a People's Republic of China national or Russian national unless the candidate is also a U.S. citizen.

Nice To Haves

2+ years experience (PhD inclusive) involving one or more of the following areas: atomic physics, quantum benchmarking, quantum information, quantum computing preferred
Experience performing simulation and modeling to inform experiments
Experience with constructing quantum circuits
Excellent written and oral communication skills, with published results within their field of research

Responsibilities

Apply previous experience in research to help measure and improve quantum computers using trapped ions as qubits
Work alongside teams of scientists to bring new concepts to life
Be responsible for working in a research environment to collect data on system performance, characterizing device characteristics, and propose methods for improvements
