About The Position

The R&D Engineer is responsible for the improvement of existing and design and development of new products, formulations, and equipment including developing resources and vendors capable of meeting the company’s needs under the supervision of the R&D Manager. Responsible for reporting technical information, communicating results and making recommendations for future work.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering
  • 0 to 5 years of experience in thermoplastic processing, chemical manufacturing, or mechanical maintenance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in manufacturing or research experience in polymerization processes or product design.
  • thermoplastic processing, chemical manufacturing, or mechanical maintenance.
  • Experience in 6 Sigma a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct Safe execution of pilot and/or plant trials and testing
  • Design, develop, and improve Trex products, processes, and/or raw materials
  • Set-up experimental design, develop required operating parameters for material and equipment based on observed data and best practices
  • Understand raw material and/or product testing techniques, data acquisition, and data analysis
  • Develop all required product, process, and/or raw material documentation
  • Communicate and consult with outside technical resources
  • Communicate project status as needed across all departments and levels of the organization as required
  • Generate project ideas to improve Trex costs, profitability, market share, and/or product offering
  • Participate in additional duties as required by leadership
