About The Position

Pall Corporation, a Danaher company and a global leader in high-tech filtration, separation, and purification, is seeking an R&D Engineer to join their growing central R&D team (Filtration Technology and Device Design). This role is focused on New Product Development (NPD) of advanced filtration projects, driving innovation, and delivering differentiated product performance. The engineer will apply technical expertise in Chemical/Mechanical/Materials Engineering, particularly in micro/macro fluid-flow and materials structural-mechanical properties, to design liquid and gas filtration technologies. Responsibilities include designing, analyzing, and engineering new products with improved performance using engineering software and best practices. The role also involves becoming a subject matter expert (SME) in filtration technology, leading innovation, developing new technologies, and utilizing methodologies like Design of Experiments (DOE), D-FMEA, and P-FMEA. Effective communication with leadership, team members, cross-functional partners, and global teams is essential, as is collaboration with research and academic entities. The position is located onsite in Cortland, NY.

Requirements

  • Minimum master’s degree (PhD preferred) in Material Science, Chemical, Mechanical or other Engineering disciplines.
  • Technical background related to filtration technology for liquid/gas separation and purification.
  • Technical skills in macro- and micro-fluid flow, structural mechanics, design to engineering, finite element methods, computational fluid modeling (CFD).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in filtration Industry R&D/product development and/or design engineering is desired.
  • Knowledge of polymer materials and mechanism of mass-transport during filtration process is valuable.
  • Knowledge of advanced semiconductor wafer fabrication processes related to photolithography and/or wet etch is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research and engage in New Product Development (NPD) of advanced filtration projects.
  • Drive innovation cross-functionally.
  • Deliver differentiated product performance with custom solutions.
  • Engage with the Microelectronic Business Unit to ensure technical and strategy alignment.
  • Apply technical background (from Chemical/Mechanical/Materials Engineering), especially related to micro/macro fluid-flow, materials structural-mechanical properties for design of liquid and gas filtration technologies.
  • Design, Analyze and Engineer new products (with differentiated performance improvements) with the use of standard tools, state-of-the-art engineering software, design calculations, and best-known methods for product designs.
  • Strive to be a subject matter expert (SME), contribute to the entire value chain of filtration technology with core focus on design, modeling, prototyping, testing and analysis.
  • Lead innovation and develop new technologies, build new ideas that enable New Product Development, utilize sound fundamentals including but not limited to Design of Experiments (DOE), D-FMEA and P-FMEA for new product development.
  • Communicate to leadership, team members, and other key cross-functional partners.
  • Work with global teams, labs, and engineering resources in other time zones.
  • Collaborate with research and academic entities that enable breakthrough innovation.
