About The Position

Provides engineering support to material, product, and process development programs. This role involves assisting in conducting engineering experiments on new materials, products, processes, and procedures, as well as participating in projects to optimize and improve existing ones. The R&D Engineer I will also support project plan development, execution, and reporting, document work instructions and procedures, and operate process and test equipment. This position requires hands-on responsibility for assigned processing and/or analytical equipment and collaboration with the Operations and Commercial sectors under the guidance of more senior engineers. Participation in the company’s safety culture and continuous improvement efforts, along with undertaking training to develop skills, are also key aspects of this role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, or related Physical Science or Engineering, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Sound basic knowledge of mathematics, statistics and engineering science.
  • Good interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Organized, detail-oriented person necessary.
  • Team player.
  • Must be able to work with a diverse variety of people from different cultures and backgrounds.
  • Must be a US citizen and able to obtain a DOW security clearance.
  • Required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment in designated areas.
  • Must be able to lift 50lb.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience with carbide, borides, and/or nitrides preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in conducting engineering experiments on new materials, products, processes and/or procedures under direct supervision.
  • Participates in projects to optimize and improve existing materials, products, processes and/or procedures.
  • Assists with project plan development, execution and reporting activities to support CoorsTek project management activities.
  • Assists with documenting work instructions and procedures.
  • Operates process and test equipment per existing procedures.
  • Exercises hands-on responsibility for assigned processing and/or analytical equipment.
  • Works collaboratively under the guidance of more senior engineers with the Operations and Commercial sectors of the company.
  • Participates in the company’s safety culture and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Undertakes training to develop skills.
