The R&D Assay Development Intern will contribute to projects developing bioluminescent and fluorescent tools for studying processes in living cells and biochemical systems. Projects may involve NanoLuc-based reporter and complementation technologies such as NanoBiT and HiBiT; homogeneous, no-wash bioluminescent immunoassays for intracellular proteins and post-translational modifications; fluorescence labeling, imaging, and plate-reader methods; enzyme activity assays; and drug discovery applications including assay miniaturization, high-throughput screening, and compound profiling. The intern will perform cell culture, transfections, and cell-based assays in multi-well formats; run biochemical assays; use luminometers, fluorescence plate readers, and imaging instruments; and collect, organize, and analyze assay data. They will document work in an electronic lab notebook, follow protocols with direction, learn to troubleshoot unexpected results, present findings at group meetings, and contribute ideas. The role involves applying Promega proprietary technologies to develop intracellular target detection and signaling assays while working at the bench and collaborating with the team.
