About The Position

Europastry, a family business founded in Barcelona in 1987, is seeking a motivated and experienced R&D Administrator to join their growing company. This role is responsible for maintaining data and information files related to products, experiments, ingredients, and formulas. The administrator will prepare required reports, manage department databases, and schedule/participate in meetings with the R&D team, including preparing agendas and recaps. Key responsibilities include managing New Product Requests from the Sales team, maintaining communication on new projects, and preparing R&D reports. The role also involves performing various administrative duties, supporting R&D team experiments, compiling data, maintaining daily logs, and managing R&D department records. Additionally, the administrator will fulfill customer sample requests, assist with the Kosher OU program, handle new ingredient procedures, research new ingredients and vendors, perform child nutrition/whole grain analysis, initiate new item processes, create and maintain experiment folders, respond to inquiries from Sales & Marketing and customers, organize bake-offs, and compile data for Cost of Goods Sold (COGS). The position also requires adherence to company policies, safety regulations, and GMP standards.

Requirements

  • Associate degree or equivalent work experience required.
  • 2–4 years of experience in an R&D support role, preferably within the food manufacturing industry.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build effective working relationships.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently, take initiative, and solve problems in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and follow simple to complex instructions, technical documents, correspondence, and procedures.

  • Culinary, pastry, food science, or related manufacturing background preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining data and information files pertaining to products, experiments, ingredients and formulas.
  • Preparing all required reports and managing all information in department databases.
  • Scheduling and participating in meetings with the R&D team, including preparing meeting agendas and recaps.
  • Managing New Product Requests from the Sales team and maintaining consistent communication regarding new projects.
  • Preparing R&D reports and summaries for distribution.
  • Performing various administrative duties and providing support for R&D Team involved with new product experiments.
  • Compiling data and maintaining accurate daily logs based on research and experiments.
  • Maintaining accurate records for the R&D department, including tracking tasks and projects.
  • Fulfilling customer sample requests, including all necessary steps and facilitating shipment.
  • Assisting with Kosher OU program, requesting approval for ingredients and finished goods.
  • Handling new ingredient procedures, including obtaining technical documents and managing systems.
  • Sourcing/researching new ingredients and maintaining communication with vendors.
  • Performing child nutrition/whole grain analysis on assigned items and addressing related customer inquiries.
  • Initiating the new item process and developing SKU initiations.
  • Creating, changing, and maintaining all experiment folders with formulas and specification information.
  • Researching and responding to inquiries from Sales & Marketing, customers, and consumers regarding ingredients and products.
  • Organizing bake-offs, reviewing experiments, and reporting status updates and next steps to the team.
  • Participating in special projects and performing other duties as required.
  • Working with various departments to compile and generate Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) for experiments and new items.
  • Meeting company standards pertaining to quantity and quality of work performed.
  • Performing all work-related tasks in compliance with Company policies and procedures.
  • Adhering to Company policies, procedures, and directives regarding standards of workplace behavior.
  • Following all Company Safety policies and GMP regulations.
