About The Position

The Technical Quotations & Product Specialist serves as the primary technical and commercial resource for preparing customer quotations, configuring products, and supporting the sales organization with product expertise. This role bridges Sales, Engineering, Operations, and Customers by translating application requirements into accurate quotations, product recommendations, and technical solutions. The ideal candidate combines strong technical aptitude with commercial awareness, ensuring customers receive timely, accurate, and competitive proposals while supporting profitable business growth.

Requirements

  • BS/BA preferred. HS Diploma/ GED Required.
  • Equivalent combination of technical experience and education will be considered.
  • Experience in technical quotations, inside sales, applications engineering, product support, or technical customer service.
  • Ability to interpret customer requirements and translate them into product solutions.
  • Proficiency with CRM and ERP systems.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Customer-focused mindset with commercial awareness.
  • Ability to work effectively across Sales, Engineering, Operations, and Product Management teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with electrical power distribution, portable power systems, industrial equipment, or related technical products preferred.
  • Experience in Entertainment Events or Industrial applications is preferred.
  • Experience in reviewing technical drawings, electrical schematics, and specifications preferred.
  • Understanding of electrical distribution systems, transformers, connectors, cables, and protection devices preferred.
  • Experience with product configurators, CAD drawings, or technical documentation is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate and timely quotations for standard, configured, and custom products.
  • Review customer specifications, drawings, one-line diagrams, RFQs, and bid documents.
  • Determine appropriate product configurations based on technical requirements and application needs.
  • Develop pricing recommendations that align with company margin objectives.
  • Generate formal quotations, proposals, and supporting technical documentation.
  • Track quotation activity and maintain records within (future) CRM, PowerBI and ERP systems.
  • Follow up on outstanding quotations and support conversion of opportunities into orders.
  • Serve as a technical resource for customers, sales representatives, distributors, and internal teams.
  • Provide product selection guidance and application support.
  • Assist customers in understanding product capabilities, limitations, certifications, and compliance requirements.
  • Recommend alternative solutions when standard products do not meet application requirements.
  • Support troubleshooting and technical inquiries related to existing products.
  • Evaluate customer requests for non-standard or custom solutions.
  • Collaborate with Engineering to define technical requirements and feasibility.
  • Prepare RFQs and design requests for Engineering review.
  • Support development of cost estimates, bills of materials, and configuration requirements.
  • Communicate technical clarifications between internal / external customers and engineering teams.
  • Maintain expert-level knowledge of company products, applications, and industry standards.
  • Support the accuracy and maintenance of product literature, specification sheets, pricing tools, and configuration guides.
  • Assist with product launches by creating sales support materials and training content.
  • Participate in product training initiatives for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities to improve quotation processes, pricing tools, and configuration systems.
  • Support implementation of CRM, ERP, and product configurator enhancements.
  • Analyze quote conversion rates and identify trends impacting win/loss performance.
  • Contribute market intelligence and customer feedback to Product Management and Engineering.
